The Space Research Institute (Institut für Weltraumforschung, IWF) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (AAS) is, as a heri­tage since foundation, structured into three departments. Director of the institute is Prof. Wolfgang Baumjohann. All important decisions are considered by an institute council consisting of the three research directors and six staff members.
