Cergop-2/Environment

CERGOP (Central European Research on Geodynamics Project) consists of 13 countries of Central Europe. The main items are monitoring crust movements by using GPS measurements from high quality campaigns and permanent stations. Velocity fields, geo-kinematical models and strain fields are derived as the basis for geodynamic investigations like force models for the physics of dynamic processes and energy transfer (earthquake prediction). The focus lies on the Adriatic Microplate, the Balkan and Dinarides, the Carpathian Arc, the Eastern Alps and the Pannonian Basin, all of them being active tectonic zones. The long term project is running since 1994 and was sponsored twice by EU projects (CERGOP1 and CERGOP-2/Environment). The project is governed by the CEGRN (Central European GPS Research Net) Consortium which maintains databases at Budapest and Graz.

Further information is found at the page of the CEGRN Consortium and at the  CERGOP database page.
